Beautiful boat. Interested in selling? I’d like to build my own boat but no such luck with Pygmy out of business. Regards, mike miketomitz@gmail.com. Bellingham, WA
Hi Mike,
No sir, I am not interested in selling. My understanding is that Pygmy is just shut down due Covid and expect to resume taking orders sometime in the future. That said, have you looked into some of the other kit manufacturers? I know that Nick Schade at Guillemot Kayaks sells kits and plans. I really admire his strip built kayaks, and while I haven’t looked at his kits in any detail I do know that he builds beautiful kayaks with amazing attention to detail. So I would imagine that his stitch and glue kayak kits are a high quality product. Here’s a link to Guillemot: https://www.guillemot-kayaks.com
Thanks for stopping by the blog, and I hope you find a way to build a kayak yourself. It’s a very rewarding process.
Best,
K.D. Cline
Hi again Mike,
This is a follow up on my previous reply. I was curious and went to the Guillemot website, and it looks like Chesapeake Light Craft sell kits of Nick Schade’s Petrel Play SG (stitch & glue) kayak. Here is a link: https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/kayak-kits/stitch-and-glue-petrel-play.html
They also have many other kits that look pretty interesting. You may already have this info, but I thought I’d share it just in case you haven’t seen it.
I hope you have the opportunity build your own kayak!
